Grant Process

Once your grant application has been received, it will be reviewed by our Grant Review Committee to determine if the application meets RMHC guidelines. Recommendations are then forwarded on to the RMHC Board of Directors for approval.

Grant Review Committee Meetings:

• 1st quarter March
• 2nd quarter June
• 3rd quarter September
• 4th quarter November

Most Frequent Reasons for Grant Screening Declines:

• Project or program budget not included
• Application request does not directly benefit children
• Requests for salary and administrative expenses
• Requests for advertising and fundraising drives
• Budget is not itemized or specific to the application request
• 501(c)3 issued in different name than applicant
• Request for capital improvements
• Request premature (i.e., site under construction or program is for following year)
• Application arrives with 36 months of last grant

Site Visit

If your grant application passes the screening process, it is assigned a site visit. Then, within 6 weeks after the application deadline date, a member of the RMHC Grant Review Committee will contact you to arrange a site visit. The committee member will meet with you at your facility to gather more information about your agency and the specific project described in your application to share at the Grant Review Committee meeting.

Award/Decline Notices

Mailed at end of quarter.

Checks

Upon receipt of your signed release form, local RMHC checks are forwarded to a site visit Sub-Committee Member for presentation to your organization. Any RMHC National matching funds checks are generally mailed directly to you within 8 weeks of receipt of your signed release.

Evaluation

Your final accounting and Evaluation Report of the grant funds used is to be submitted to RMHC within 13 months of the grant award date.
